At Husbands Bosworth, our children experience a range of musical activities that explore and each the key areas of music learning:

• Performing and Musicianship 

The National Curriculum for Music aims to ensure children: 

• perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians,  
• learn to sing and to use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, use technology appropriately and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence, 
• understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the interrelated dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations. 

Our children love to sing, and this builds up confidence, especially when performing. They enjoy sharing their musical talents in assemblies, events, as part of the Young Voices choir and in end of term productions. 

Music is all around us. It is the soundtrack to our lives.  

To encourage a wide repertoire, our children listen to music regularly and enjoy talking about what they like - or don't like!  They are encouraged to learn about different instruments and the sounds they make to build up strong musical knowledge by using the correct vocabulary. We follow the Charanga scheme for music. 

We have a wide range of tuned and untuned percussion in school, and our children love to make their own music. Children in Key Stage Two have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in curriculum lessons such as recorder and glockenspiel and we currently have peripatetic music teachers in school to teach piano, recorder, clarinet, flute, saxophone and fife.
